Sotheby's Breaks Auction Records for African Art at Bowie Collector Sale

In Part II: Modern and Contemporary Art, Day Auction of the Bowie/Collector sale, 87.5 % (7 out of 8) of the lots for African artists broke new auction records.

These auction records are as detailed below:

Lot 280 - Peter Bongani Shange, Mayibuye Head C, £16,250 ($20,300), new top record for the artist.

Lot 281 - Peter Bongani Shange, Mayibuye Head F, £16,250 ($20,300), new top record for the artist.


Lot 284 - António Ole, Untitled (Mask) - £10,000 ($12,500) - new top auction record for the artist.

Lot 282 - António Ole, North/South VII - £8,750 ($11,000) - new 3rd best auction record for the artist

Lot 283 - António Ole, North/South XV - £9,375 ($11,700) - new 2nd best auction record for the artist


Lot 285 - António Ole, Alexandra - £25,000 ($31,300) - new top auction record.
